By Nigel and Maggie Percy

You may have wondered whether or not you can improve your intuition, or even just get it to work for you.

Well, wonder no more!

What follows is a guide to the absolutely best top 10 ways to become intuitive (or just give it a boost).

    1.Let it happen

    2.Trust it

3.Find ways to let it 'speak' to you

    4.Live simply

    5.Live without fear

    6.Learn to relax

    7.Follow it

    8.Learn it

    9.Practice it

    10.Read about it

Firstly, let's make one thing clear. It's pretty obvious that everyone has intuition in one form or another available to them. So, what we're really talking about here are the best ways to make it accessible. If you want to be intuitive (or be more intuitive than you are right now), then this list is for you.

Let's start by explaining those 10 points...

1. Let it happen.

This is about the most important thing there is. If you are worried about it happening or not happening (either because you do or don't believe in intuition), is irrelevant. If you don't give it the space to happen, it never will for you. Or, it might do, but you will be so busy that you ignore it. You can block it by ignoring it. You can block it by wanting it too much. Just let it happen to you. After all, you have no idea particularly, in what form your intuition might speak to you, so just give it all the space it needs by not worrying too much about it.

2. Trust it.

The second biggest problem people have with their intuition is not trusting it. If you get a real powerful 'hit' about something, then trust it and go with it. It could be about who's phoning you before they ring. Or it could be a 'hit' that you shouldn't travel a certain way to work. Whatever it is, trust it. Without you learning to trust it, it will never help you. That is not to say that it always be right or be exactly 100% perfect. Things aren't anyway! But, without learning to trust it, you'll never know that you CAN trust it.

3. Find ways to let it 'speak' to you

As has been said, there are many, many ways in which intuition can work. You can simply 'know' something ahead of time. You can even hear a voice, or see something. Or, you can use things like tarot cards or pendulums, palm readings or anything else that you can think of. One or more of these ways will work for you. It might be that you like to have your cards read once in a while. Well, listen to your intuition at the time. How 'right' do you feel about what is being said to you? Or have you always been drawn to reading palms but feel guilty or strange about it? Perhaps you always wanted to exercise some creative talent like painting or sculpture but you didn't know what to create? Whatever the clues are for you, follow them and let your intuition speak to you.

4. Live Simply

Intuition comes at us in odd moments. Sometimes, when we're busy, we just 'know' what to do. But too often we are so wrapped up in our lives, in the very 'busy-ness' of it all that it we block out our finer perceptions, our sixth sense. We can become so rooted in the 'real' world, that we ignore what comes to us in more subtle, unseen ways. So, this 'living simply' is really about not becoming so wrapped up in everything going on around you. It is about being purely in the moment. Concentrate on what you are doing right now and nothing else and you will find that the clutter falls away and you can hear your inner voice and intuition at last!

5. Live without fear

The fear referred to here is, firstly, the fear of ridicule. Some people are very shy about admitting they hear voices or read tarot cards or whatever. Be open about your natural talent (for that is what it is) and don't fear what others may say. Secondly, the other fear here is the fear you are constantly fed by society. The news, the media, all contain huge amounts of fear and fear-based arguments. Fear of war, fear of disaster, fear of illness, fear of poverty and so on and on and on. To live without this fear requires that you stop listening to the media. Don't follow the news. Don't watch TV. Don't take a paper. Try doing this for one whole month. Just 30 days. Then see how you feel. Without this constant drip of fear into your life, you have room to expand yourself and your inner life. You have the room and the time to listen to your intuition again...

6. Learn to Relax

...Which is where this tip comes in. Relaxation is not the opposite of working. Relaxation is not sitting still. Relaxation is allowing your mind and body to rest. Allowing yourself respite from the demands of the day means that you allow yourself time to unwind and let problems take a backseat. At such times you can begin to tune in to your intuition.

7. Follow it

It is one thing to be aware that you have intuitive abilities, another to actually listen to your intuition, but another thing entirely to actually do what it suggests. In some ways, this also comes under Live without fear, because, for many people, there is a gap between listening and doing. And that gap is due to fear; fear of failure and ridicule. Yet, if you never follow what your intuition tells you, what is the point of having it, of listening in the first place? It might take courage. It might take practice, but in the end, you are going to have follow it.

8. Learn it

This one isn't learning ABOUT it. This is learning your intuition and the way it works for you. For example, it might be that you become aware that you have a funny feeling in the pit of your stomach when you are about to make an important contact. Or, it could be that your ear always itches just before someone you know is going to phone you. It could be a feeling of anticipation when you 'know' a score is going to happen for your favorite team. Whatever it is that happens to you, however you know that you are getting a 'hit' of some kind, learn it. Get used to it. Know it for certain when it shows up. Listen for other signs you might have overlooked. In other words, learn yourself!

9. Practice it

Without practice, most skills become less reliable, less strong and certain. It is exactly the same with intuition. Use it often. Use it in familiar circumstances and use it in new ones. Use it in new ways and practice the old ways. The more you use it, the better it becomes, the more reliable it becomes, the more trustworthy it becomes. And the more you practice using it, the easier it is to use!

10. Read about it

By yourself, you will only be able to progress so far, do only so much with your chosen method of intuition. To find new ways, to develop and learn other approaches, read what others have done and what they suggest you can do. There is a vast number of books, articles, and magazines, not to mention classes, courses and seminars on just about any type of intuition you can think of. Use other peoples' expertise to push yourself. And, if you are one of the great 'naturals' at this, then do the decent thing and tell others about it and help them!

As you read these and ponder them, you might also come to realize that they are not 10 separate things. These are all inter-related. Once you start on one, you notice that the others tend to start kicking in by themselves. Intuition is intertwined with our lives. You can't just start one new activity without triggering others. And that's what makes it what it is.
