Where intuition really is
In my ceaseless quest to give you more information than you could possible need about intuition, I came across this article which speaks of the evolution of the intuitive faculty. Most interesting!
The article states that there are two areas of the brain generally considered to be involved in ESP: the pineal gland and the corpus callosum.
Now, in order to stop you running off to look at the reference books you bought when you thought being a surgeon would be a neat idea, I’ll tell you about them (courtesy of the article). The pineal gland is pretty much buried in the brain, about at the point where, if you drilled through at the center of your skull and through the point between your eyebrows a little above your nose, the two would meet. That’s the pineal gland. It’s often called the master gland and it’s where many psychics say they get their messages. It’s also a bit of a vague spot in modern medicine. It has something to do with light and dark but don’t push too hard beyond that!
So far, so good. Now, the interesting thing is that, in women, this gland if usually larger than in men. It’s also slightly larger in children than in adults.
Bear that in mind for we are moving along rapidly here….
The corpus callosum is the link, the bridge, the communications setup if you will, between the two hemispheres of the brain. In women, guess what? It’s thicker! That would suggest that females are better at processing large amounts of information.
Now, put the two together and you have a very neat theory as to why women are more intuitive than men and children more intuitive than adults.
Or, put it this way, no-one’s got a better idea just yet, so why not go along with it?
