Premonitions and the like…
Having just watched the film ‘Premonition’ with Sandra Bullock, I looked for the gag reel (which should be mandatory on ALL DVD’s ). I was surprised when I found one!
But the really interesting thing was that elsewhere in the special features, there were two documentaries on premonitions and the like.
Firstly, I should say that the film itself was not so much about premonitions but more about the nature of time and cause and effect. That’s not to say that premonitions are not those things.
However, on to the special features part of the DVD. AS I think I mentioned elsewhere, the special features is the most interesting part of the DVD in many cases. You really should make an effort to explore them.
Back to the documentaries…
I should say before we start that there were sections on waking dreams and remote viewing. There was also an interview with probably the best know remote viewer, Robert MacMoneagle the original Stargate RV’er. (If that means nothing to you, just know that he was amongst the best of his kind working for the armed forces and CIA….does that help?)
What struck me about them was the burden upon those who have clear and bright premonitions. One chap in particular is still haunted (and I mean driven to tears) after over 20 years by his inability to identify the aircraft which crashed almost exactly as he saw it night after night. He tried to forewarn the FAA but, although they listened to him (all credit to them) there simply wasn’t enough information for them to identify it.
The same was true for a lady who ’saw’ the Pope being stabbed, who saw a plane crash with 80 dead, who has ’seen’ many other such events. Although they events took place years ago, these people are still suffering from their feelings of guilt.
One man, a retired art professor, is able to paint what he sees. He has predicted, amongst other things, the last 7 of the worst storms and has taken to having his paintings photographed at the local bank under their date and time clock so that no-one can infer he made it up after the fact. (The closest in time between painting and event was 40 minutes for the Watford (UK) rail crash.) He also feels pangs of guilt and worries that people will accuse him of making the events happen because he sees them.
If we accept intuition as accessing information which does not get to us through our normal five senses, then premonitions are, quite obviously, in that category.
But what we do not spend time thinking about is the effect such information can have upon us. Because it comes to us in ways which are still not widely accepted, and in forms which are not crystal clear, we are stuck with trying to make it fit into our 5-senses lives when it really is a 6th-sense thing. For many people, this awareness, this information is a burden they do not want, they do not like nor do they seek it.
For those reasons alone, if for no others (and there are many!), intuition, premonitions call it what you will, should be taken more seriously by everyone who currently shrugs it off as irrational nonsense.
I just hope they never have to to deal with the angst of knowing something bad is going to happen and they are powerless to prevent it.
