The Types of Intuition

Just as there’s more than one way of skinning a cat (which, on further consideration, seems a remarkably useless thing to learn), so there is more than one way of using your intuition.

I say ‘using’ but I could just as easily have said ‘accessing’, utilizing’, ‘recognizing’ or just plain ‘hearing’. Take your pick.

To a lot of people, you know your intuition is working when you get a hunch or a feeling that you should or shouldn’t do something.

But there are plenty of other ways you can access your intuition. What follows is just a brief outline of the major ones. I’ll probably get to some more in-depth stuff about them in later posts. (Come to think of it (again!), I think that’s going to be mandatory, if this is going to be of any use at all.)

So, intuition can also be something akin to being psychic, having a sixth sense, getting a hunch or feeling or just knowing something. That leaves the field pretty wide open I’d say.

Just ‘knowing’ what to do or say. That’s a big one, and probably the most common appreciation of intuition.

Then there’s the more direct stuff like using Tarot cards, crystal balls or tea leaves. They’re just ways in which you allow your intuition to speak to you.

Then there’s hearing voices. Before anyone leaves the room muttering, I should point out that you don’t have to be mad to hear voices. You can just have the sensation of hearing a voice or have the voice speak clearly on occasion. (I admit that if you’ve got voices in your head pretty much continually telling you to do things, that could be a dangerous thing.)

Then there’s stuff like dowsing. That is where you use a tool or technique to help focus on what you want to know. Fascinating stuff and DEFINITELY more about that later.

I think that the big problem for a lot of people is accepting that intuition actually works for them. Without that acceptance, they’re not going to get anywhere.
